Description
| Papalin Navy Proof is a blend of 7-year-old molasses-based rums crafted by Velier, the famed independent bottler led by Italian rum expert Luca Gargano. The blend consists of Jamaican rums distilled in pot stills at Worthy Park and Hampden. As with the lower-proof version, the composition is 80% Worthy Park, 10% Hampden HCLF aged in ex-bourbon barrels, and 10% Hampden HCLF matured in sherry casks. The HCLF designation means “Hampden Light Continental Flavoured.” All components were aged entirely in tropical conditions at their respective distilleries before being blended. This Papalin edition was bottled at 57.18% ABV in December 2021—a strength traditionally considered the minimum required on naval ships to ensure rum would not compromise gunpowder. |
