Story No. 3 The Balvenie 26 Year Old A Day of Dark Barley is part of The Balvenie Stories collection. This 26-year-old single malt tells the story of a bold experiment that began in the summer of 1992. Inspired by curiosity Malt Master David Stewart decided to use heavily roasted dark barley more commonly found in the brewing of dark beers. Maltman Robbie Gormley and Mashman Brian Webster fondly remember the day the unusual malt first arrived at the distillery setting in motion a truly unique project. A 14-year-old version was released years ago and now A Day of Dark Barley returns as a fully matured 26-year-old expression aged in American oak barrels
